Generations Explained

Searching for a Sheepadoodle puppy can be confusing.  All the terms such as F1, F1b, F1BB, F2...ect. can definitely be hard to understand.  I hope below you will see an explanation and it will help you decide on what generation you are looking for. 

F1 = One parent is a Standard Poodle and one is an Old English Sheepdog. They are 50% Standard Poodle, 50% Old English Sheepdog.  They can be non-shedding, depends on the genetics of the parents.

F1B =  A F1 sheepadoodle is bred back to a standard poodle.  They are 75% Standard Poodle and 25% Old English Sheepdog.  There is a higher chance of them being non-Shedding due to the higher percentage of Poodle.  The coats in the litter can vary from Straight to Curly.  There is also a greater chance for different colors in the litter. 

F1BB = F1b Sheepadoodle bred back to a Standard Poodle.  These puppies are 87.5% Poodle and 27.5 % Old English Sheepadog.  This generation is highly unlikley to shed.  They majority Poodle.  The coats will most liley be curly and the appearance will be more like a Poodle.  We do not breed F1BB, we feel that its just to much poodle and will a different personality than your F1, F1b, F2 Sheepadoodles. 

F2 = F1 Sheepadoodle bred to a F1 Sheepadoodle.  These puppies are also 50% Poodle and 50% Old English Sheepdog.  The coats will vary from straight to Wavy,  also depending on the parents genetics you can get a litter with multiple colors and keep the sheepadoodle personality. 

F3 = F2 Sheepadoodle bred back to a F2 Sheepadoodle.  These puppies are also 50% Poodle and 50% Old English Sheepdog.  These should be non-Shedding if your breeder did the right testing on coat type and made sure both parents were non shedding.  They will aslo have wavy to straight coat type.  Multiple colors are possible , they will still have the friendly, goofy, loving personality of the Sheepadoodle. 

We only breed F1, F1 B, F2 and F3 generations.  We prefer the 50/50 mix.  We feel that the puppies have the classic sheepadoodle personality we love.  All of our puppies are non-shedding.
